Woman Arrested After Striking Boyfriend With Bat During Dispute

Homestead, FL - A South Florida woman was arrested last week for allegedly hitting her boyfriend with a bat during a domestic dispute.

Homestead police say 42-year-old Yilian Herrera was arrested on Friday following an altercation with her boyfriend that turned violent.

Police say during an April 16th incident, a conflict escalated between Herrera and her boyfriend’s roommates at a Homestead apartment.

During the argument, Herrera's boyfriend hid her in the apartment's master bathroom for her safety.

According to her arrest report, Herrera claimed she grabbed a baseball bat for protection from her boyfriend's roommates, however, the 42-year-old then allegedly struck her boyfriend on the arm and back with the bat before fleeing the apartment.

Police arrested Herrera and booked her into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm with a weapon.

Judge Mindy Glazer ordered Herrera to stay away from the alleged victim and placed her on house arrest with a GPS monitor.

Judge Glazer set Herrera's bond at $3,000.
